Are Spam Filters Losing? Spam filtering programs and systems are losing the cat mouse game between predators and controllers. Spam filters work to control spam email, phishing email, and email viruses, while the spammers look for alternate routes around these filters. The emails that come to your box saying you have won a million dollars are phishing mails, while spam is variant. Phishing mails also come in the form of bankers, service providers, and businesses. Examples of phishing mails can be seen as follow: "Hi, we are contacting you today to let you know that information is needed for us to process your account before it has to be closed per policy. The sender is your bank. This is one email you want to send down the tubes of the server. Why? Because if you don't, you may end up the next identity theft victim, hopelessly scrambling to cancel your cards and contact the credit bureaus before you are slammed with piles of debt. Spam email, on the other hand, is more likely to be one of those too-good-to-be-true offers or discounts. They will often tell you that you can only purchase something for a limited time–and if you do not, you will regret it. They will emphasize how much you save. But in reality, you are generally saving nothing. You are being lured into a trap by someone who is contacting you illegally to begin with. If you want to prevent spam mails, beat the filters and send the mails back with no forwarding address. Thus, when they receive enough of their own mails, they will stop sending emails to your address. Spam mails are unsolicited mails sent to millions of boxes worldwide, which come from sources that speculate your mail address, or else get the address from other companies. Therefore, filter your mailbox by deciding carefully who you give your information over the Internet.
